Sitecore xDB Migration Using Sitecore xDB Data Migration Tool

The Sitecore Experience Platform uses separate database to store the Sitecore Experience Analytics Content called Sitecore Analytics Database. Sitecore 6.x.x version uses Sitecore DMS SQL Server database to store Sitecore Experience Analytics Content and Sitecore 7.5.x – Sitecore 8.x it utilizes MongoDB to store the Sitecore Experience Analytics Content.

We can follow below mentioned path to upgrade the Sitecore Experience Analytics Content from Sitecore 6.6.0 (Initial Release) to Sitecore 10.1.0:

Sitecore provides Sitecore xDB Data Migration Tool 5.0 which can be utilized to upgrade xDB data to Sitecore 10.0 from Sitecore 8.0 or later. 

As per scenario we are on Sitecore version 6.6.0 (Initial Release) and we must upgrade Sitecore version gradually with DMS Data.  

As per Sitecore CMS upgrade option-1 we will be gradually upgrading to Sitecore 7.2 rev. 140228 (Initial Release). After upgrading to Sitecore 7.2 rev. 140228 (Initial Release) we can do one more update for Sitecore 8.0 rev. 141212 with Sitecore DMS Data. While the Express Migration Tool based  upgrade only take care of Sitecore CMS content and it will not upgrade Sitecore DMS data. 

The Sitecore xDB Migration Tool 5.0 provides new way of upgrade process i.e. we don’t need to upgrade to version by version for Sitecore DMS data, and we can upgrade Sitecore DMS data from Sitecore 8.0 to Sitecore 10.0:

The yesterday (11th September’07) was the inaugural ceremony of ICC Twenty20 (T20) world cup. This inaugural ceremony was not like other ICC tournament, the ceremony was very lively and the performance of band was showing cool cheerleaders.
